MAK SICCAR -
The vessel is of a low draught, near flat bottomed catamaran design with the ability to withstand grounding under fully laden conditions. As such the Mak Siccar is ideally suited to work in shallow seas where it can be employed to remain on station even once the tide has receded.
The onboard hydraulic crane can be utilised to lower plant and equipment over the side, such as a quad bike and trailer, to enable survey work to be carried out offshore at low tide in shallow seas.
The design enables all facilities to be functional, even when fully grounded, as the design does not require the use of sea water to cool auxiliary engines.
The rear gantry design would enable the vessel to be easily modified to extend the range of duties within its capabilities. Note most of the images do not show the optional hydraulic stern gantry which can be used for handling mussel and shellfish dredgers but there are a couple of images in the gallery showing the gantry fitted.

THE WHEELHOUSE
The Mak Siccar is equipped with the full compliment of communication technology, including marine VHF radiotelephone, class ‘D’ DSC facilities complying with Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).
The boat is equipped with up to date electronic navigation and plotting aids including; satellite compass, autopilot, depth sounder, colour discrimination sounder all integrated through a newly upgraded computer. This allows accurate plotting of the sea bed as well as positioning and tracking of the boat’s course.
Shellfish Harvesting Equipment
The vessel is equipped with a forward facing shellfish harvesting system. The system
utilises one of two harvesting heads; incorporating either a fluidising system or
a patent pending rotating brush harvester. In both systems the catch is elevated
to the deck using an open mesh elevator and from there to an on-
These systems are highly efficient for harvesting cockle, clam and mussels for the live market.
The Mak Siccar is also able to utilise a 2metre ‘dutch’ mussel dredge using the hydraulic winch enabled stern gantries.
Images of the harvesting equipment can be found in the gallery but please enquire if you require more details.
